About Us

AJ Morgen, Founder of Green Mountain Yoga

I first began studying yoga over 20 years ago, as a means for improving my flexibility in dance training. At that time, I didn’t understand how powerful of a tool yoga could be for my overall wellbeing and instead treated it as an exercise to improve my athleticism. During my career working with the United Nations in conflict zones around the world, however, I developed compound PTSD that negatively impacted on my mental and physical health. Yoga became the lifeline that helped reconnect my body and mind during the healing process, realigning with my more peaceful, authentic self again.

This profound experience instilled a core belief in me that yoga has the transformative power to connect us with our deeper selves and with the world around us in a peaceful and meaningful way. It can help us breathe through the discomforts of our lives, find joy in the seemingly ordinary moments of the day, and remain internally peaceful regardless of what is occurring around us. This is what inspired me to complete my yoga teacher training and reorient my life so that I could support this journey for others as well.

As a result, it’s important that my yoga classes are safe spaces for all people regardless of your demographics, physical ability, mental health, or life experiences. Creating an inclusive and body positive space includes providing pose/movement modifications, adapting teaching methods to learning styles, practicing mindfulness in action on social issues, and encouraging communication from students. Please don’t ever hesitate to connect with me - either in class or separately - if you’d like to discuss how I can better support your participation in my classes.

“AJ has such expertise in supporting students of all types and was very helpful in guiding my older body through healing moves. I finish class feeling lighter and more peaceful, ready to enjoy what life has to offer.”
